The right size usually comes down to two things — the type of project and how much heavy material (shingles, tile, dirt, or concrete) is going in. Here’s where each common job tends to land.
Clearing out years of boxes, old furniture, and yard-sale leftovers? A 10 yard handles a single-car garage or a focused attic purge. If you’re emptying a two-car garage or tackling the garage and the shed in one weekend, step up to a 15 yard so you’re not playing Tetris on day two.
A single bathroom tear-out — old vanity, tub, tile, and drywall — fits comfortably in a 10 or 15 yard. Because tile and fixtures are heavy, the smaller footprint keeps you within weight limits. A whole-kitchen or multi-room remodel produces a lot more cabinetry, flooring, and drywall, so most homeowners land on a 20 yard, and a gut renovation of several rooms often calls for a 30.
Shingles are deceptively heavy, so roofing is one job where bigger isn’t automatically better. A modest re-roof often fits a 10 yard without hitting the weight cap, while a larger home or a multi-layer tear-off is better matched to a 20. Heavy materials like concrete, dirt, brick, and tile hit weight limits long before they fill the box — so heavy debris often means a smaller size than the square footage suggests.
All our roll-offs are delivered driveway-safe, but make sure there’s a clear, level spot roughly the length of a couple of parked cars for the larger boxes.
If the dumpster has to sit on a public street rather than your own property, check with the City of Ocala or your HOA about a right-of-way permit before delivery. On your own driveway, you’re typically fine.
